JobKeeper 2.0 – do you qualify?

With JobKeeper 1.0 ending on 27 September, we are busy preparing for JobKeeper 2.0.

Legislation for JobKeeper 2.0 was passed on Tuesday 1 September with a start date of 28 September 2020.

From 3 August 2020 the relevant date of employment will move from 1 March to 1 July 2020, increasing employee eligibility for the existing scheme and the extension. This means, if you employed a permanent staff member before 1 July, they may now be eligible for JobKeeper.
Additionally, if you have casuals who have been employed with you for 12 months on or before 1 July 2020, they may also be eligible.

To be eligible for 2.0 through till January 3 2021, your business must have suffered, at a minimum, a 30% decline in turnover in the September 2020 quarter when compared to the September 2019 quarter.

To be eligible for 2.0 through till March 28 2021, your business must have suffered, at a minimum, a 30% decline in turnover in the December 2020 quarter when compared to the December 2019 quarter.

In addition, JobKeeper fortnightly payment amounts have been reduced. From 28 September 2020, employees/business participants working 20 hrs or more per week, will be eligible for the full JobKeeper payment of $1,200 per fortnight gross, with those working under 20 hrs per week entitled
to $750 gross.

From 4 January 2021, employees/business participants working 20 hrs or more per week, will be eligible for the full JobKeeper payment of $1,000 per fortnight gross, with those working under 20 hrs per week entitled to $650 gross.

If you were not eligible for 1.0, eligibility can be reassessed for 2.0.

If you require any assistance with checking your 2.0 eligibility, or with enrolment to JobKeeper 2.0, we are ready to help. Please contact our office to discuss.
