James Mulhearn CA - Director

As a qualified Chartered Accountant, Financial Planner and Director of the firm, James established Initiative Group in early 2003 with a view to providing a niche, specialist service for small to medium business and personal clientele. The success of the firm has been founded on delivering ongoing personalised and cost effective services which are afforded to each and every client of Initiative.

James has extensive experience in all areas of Accounting & Financial Advice, with expertise in taxation advice & planning, business structuring & development, wealth creation & debt reduction, self-managed superannuation & estate planning, and providing sound general management and financial advice to a diverse portfolio of business and individual clients.

Kim Jay CA - Director

Kim joined the Initiative Group in 2007 and became a Director in 2012. As a fully qualified Chartered Accountant Kim understands what business owners need to focus on to maintain their competitive advantage and market share.

During her career, Kim has acquired the experience and knowledge necessary to deliver specialist taxation and business advice to an extensive range of clients. She has developed a finely tuned focus and proficiency in the particular needs of entrepreneurial family owned groups especially in the areas of taxation, business restructuring and superannuation.

It is this broad experience that has allowed Kim to become well versed in all facets of taxation and business advice. Kim’s industry knowledge has allowed her to work closely with a number of her clients to establish self managed superannuation funds, succession planning and effective growth strategies.

Kristina Brown - Senior Accountant

Kristina joined the Initiative team in 2015 and is currently completing the Chartered Accountants Program.  Having grown up with parents who operate their own successful small business, Kristina was introduced to the intricacies of running a family business at a young age.  Since gaining her Accounting Degree, she has played an integral role in the operations of her family business.  By observing the difference some good advice can make to a business first hand, Kristina's passion and expertise is in small business where she actively and successfully assists her clients achieve their business and financial goals.  It's where Kristina knows she can make a difference for her clients.

Kristina also specialises in taxation advice with over 4 years experience in a tax accountants role.

When Kristina isn't working or studying, she enjoys spending time with family, friends and her many animals.

Sheridan Wilson - Accountant

Currently studying a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Accounting, Sheridan embraces and relishes the daily challenges found in the ever-changing world of tax and accounting.   As part of the ‘tech savvy’ generation, Sheridan’s understanding and expertise in the use of time saving apps has assisted many of our clients.  Sheridan’s role also includes preparing Financial Statements, Business Activity Statements and Income Tax Returns for a variety of clients. She brings fresh ideas and a wide variety of knowledge to her role within the Initiative team.

Stuart Long - Financial Adviser

Stuart joined the Initiative team in 2014 and is a qualified Financial Planner.  Stuart brings added enthusiasm and experience to this busy and versatile position by assisting with all aspects of Financial planning. Stuart enjoys helping clients realise their financial goals, developing strategies and articulating in a way that is clearly understandable.  His motivation for this position is rewarded by ensuring clients financial plans are implemented in a simple and efficient manner.  Stuart graduated with his BA Hons Degree in Accountancy and Finance in 2002 and has since worked for 9 years as a Senior Finance Officer for the UK government working on large regeneration projects in deprived regions.  Stuart moved to Australia in September 2012 from the UK looking to enjoy the Australian way of life whilst developing professionally and learning new skills.

Kate Lindquist - Bookkeeper & Client Services Assistant

The newest addition to Initiative Group. Kate comes  with 10 years working in the accounting industry in Client Services and Bookkeeping roles. With a strong background in ASIC compliance and currently studying her Diploma of Accounting, Kate looks forward to assisting Initiative clients with their Xero and bookkeeping needs.

Tamieka Bremer - Receptionist

Tamieka has recently relocated to the Sunshine Coast from Gladstone to join the Initiative team. She hails from a customer service background having previous experience related to administration duties within various industries including fitness and hospitality. Tamieka loves being your first point of contact as she manages the front desk reception and provides essential administrative support to our accountants and financial advisers. She has an enthusiastic approach to her day-to-day activities and looks forward to assisting our valued clients and hopes to complete a Bachelor of Business in the near future.
